Iron Man: Avengers Disassembled
Iron Man's ideals and his duties as Secretary of Defense come into conflict in two stories in this blockbuster volume!

My final Iron-Man-as-Secretary-of-Defense storyline was collected with the final storyline in the title's third volume in this release for the 2004 holiday season.
When Marvel embarked upon "Avengers Disassembled," I wrote an introductory story which was followed by a story by Mark Ricketts – both comprising the end of the series' run prior to its reboot by Warren Ellis. I actually met Mark for the first time at Chicago Con that summer, after he had completed his own work on the title. We were coincidentally seated at the same table in Knuckles, and it was kind of a funny moment as we each suddenly realized who the other was. Very nice guy.
The trade paperback collection uses the cover from #84.
- The back cover erroneously refers to Tony Stark's duties as Secretary of State, not Defense. (Say, that gives me an idea...)
